space to start or pause
A simple timer for focused work and study
Mokudoro helps you divide a task into focused sessions and regular breaks. Use it in your browser while studying, writing, coding, or working through your to-do list. Start with 25 minutes of focus, then take a 5-minute break. You can adjust the rhythm to suit your task.
How to use the Pomodoro timer
Choose one task
Pick something specific to work on during the next focus session, such as reading a chapter or drafting a section.
Start a focus session
Select Focus and press Start focusing. The default session lasts 25 minutes. You can pause or reset the timer at any time.
Take a break
When the session ends, start a short break. The timer waits for you before beginning the next session. A short break lasts 5 minutes by default.
Set your own rhythm
Use + and − to choose how many focus sessions come before a long break. For a 25/5 routine with a longer break after four sessions, add four sessions. Long breaks last 15 minutes by default.
What is the Pomodoro technique?
The Pomodoro technique is a time-management method developed by Francesco Cirillo. It alternates a period of work, commonly 25 minutes, with a short break. After several focus sessions, you take a longer break. Use the intervals as a structure for your day, and adjust them if a different duration suits your work better.
Make the timer work for you
Open settings to change focus, short-break, and long-break durations from 1 to 180 minutes. Turn sound on or off from the main screen. On a keyboard, press Space to start or pause when you are not using a form control. The interface is available in 30 languages.
